Tokyo Station

Did a daytrip up to Tokyo to visit a few friends. The return trip took me through Tokyo Station, so I had a quick look around, before catching the train home.

Tokyo Station is an absolutely beautiful mix of modern and Meiji Era design. As I’ve stated before, in my earlier posts about architecture, I love the era’s design aesthetic.

Faerie Lights

At night, the outdoor section of the Ikebukuro Aquarium is lit up with an array of multicoloured lights.

I fits, I sits

Since I’ve been in Tokyo for almost a month on business, I’ve visited a few cat cafes. At one in Shinjuku, I met this lovely fur-child.

This fun-baby’s favorite spot is next to the sinks. Every time I have ever gone to this particular establishment, this cat has been in almost the same exact spot.

More Kamata

After work I decided to do a bit more exploring. During work, I can only see a bit from the window in the staff room, or experience a tiny fraction of it when I go out for lunch.

At night, everything is lit up beautifully. I found that this extends about three blocks from the station and is only on the west side.

Most businesses are restaurants, pubs, or pachinko places. Here you can find just about any sort of food you could want.

Some of the buildings tower, but the most interesting places are found in side alleys, under huge aunings.

A few student tell me that this city is called the dirtiest city, but I don’t really think so. What do you think?

Akihabara at Night

I decided to explore a bit of Akihabara last night, for a lack of anything else to do.

I popped into a few archades, walked through the streets, and looked though a couple of stores.

It was really crowded and there were a ton of people trying to drum up business for various cafes and clubs.

I didn’t stay long before getting back on the train home.

Kamata Station, West Side

I had a chance to visit Kamata station while here in Tokyo. It’s a pretty busy place surrounded by lots of good shopping. I would like to come back on my day off to really look around.

More Tokyo

I was thinking about visiting Tokyo over the weekend to go to a convention, since an actor I came to Japan. But in the end I decided it would be too expensive, too hot, and way to crowded for my tastes.

As I get older I find myself getting worse and worse whe it comes to crowded places. I never seriously considered it before, but I think I have a fear of large crowds.

Tokyo Train

An early moening train in the heart of Tokyo.
