Changing

The leaves are starting to change. It’s slow going for now, but I’m expecting an explosion of color soon. When that happens, I plan to take a trip West, to Kyoto. I’m told that it’s one of the best places to see the fall foliage.

Red

This weekend’s been rather nice. I’ve caught up on my sleep, enjoyed a couple of good meals, and spent a day exploring the city. While Saturday’s weather was a bit cold and damp, Sunday was absolutely beautiful.  According to the forecasts, the temperatures were supposed to top out at around 43° F, but Sunday afternoon […]

Happy Holidays

Happy holidays all. Happy belated Chanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas, Blessed Yuletide, Happy Winter Solstice, Happy New Year, and happy mid-week followed by an extended weekend to those whom do not celebrate the above.

Glow

The lights are back. The front of our apartment complex is covered in lights of varying sizes and colors. It looks fantastic at night, when I get home from work. It really improves my mood and cuts some of the winter-evening gloom caused by the sun setting at 4:30.

Before they All Fall

It gets dark so early now. Last weekend, we set the clocks back, so the sun sets around 5 pm. As we get closer to the end of December, the days will continue to grow shorter, and the temperature colder. Soon enough, the trees will be bare, or worse: covered in snow!

In Full Color

It was warm enough for me to take a walk during lunch today. For the entirety of last week, I’ve been stuck indoors due to the weather and ungodly amounts of work to do. This week is shaping up to be the same, but it’s still nice to have at least one day outside.

Colorful Autumn

All of a sudden, the leaves have gone from green to multicolored, seemly in the blink of an eye. All sorts of colors are on display this fall, contrary to my former predictions. For that I am glad.

Goodbye Nextan & Hello Sammy

Over the weekend, my dear phone “Nextan” gave up the ghost. My Nexus had been showing signs of its age for a while now, but it came to a head Friday night. After many “fevers” (battery overheating issue, common in that particular make) and a few comas (random black screens/shut downs), Nextan was given a […]

Holiday Leftovers

No, no, it’s not what you think! I don’t still have food left over from Christmas in my refrigerator, don’t worry. I’m not talking about those sorts of leftovers. I mean leftover holiday displays. Around where I live, a lot of people still have their decorations up. This might be due to the recent cold […]

Poinsettia

It may be fake (we have a cat and poinsettia’s are poison) but it still looks pretty when put on the tree. We use them to fill in some of the naked bits. It’s a nice contrast against the green of the tree and the gold of the ornaments.
