2017 Photo Journal

I went to Osaka again this weekend. The idea suddenly popped into my head and I went. More pics and stories to come. I’m way too tired now.

Winds of Change

Big changes are coming in June. I will be moving again as well as starting a new work contract. This time, however, it will be at a branch school. As a kids’ teacher.

It all happened so quickly. One moment I was trying to figure out where I was going to live this summer and how I was going to make the money in my bank account stretch, but now I’m trying to shove all my crap into boxes and clean up the place for the next person.

I’m excited for my next big adventure.

Loosing Pieces

2016-05-29 15.28.32

Today, I’m going down to the city to sell the rest of my electronics (I’m only keeping my laptop and phone) and a few other things I’ve collected through out the years. Right now, I’m waiting at the train station with two large bags, filled with the remnants of what made my room my room. It’s a little depressing, to be honest.

Still, at the same time, it’s liberating in a way. I never knew I had so much stuff until I started getting ready to move. My life needs to fit into 3 suitcases and a purse. I own more than that…

After I drop off my things, I have anot her doctor’s appointment, since my health is giving me issues again. I wonder if this is all because of stress. However, the strangest thing is, I don’t feel particularly stressed. That is to say, I don’t feel stressed, so long as I’m not covered in hives or suffering from an overactive heart (a result from my previous meds).

Regardless, my plane leaves Friday morning (I have a taxi picking me up at 3 am) and there isn’t too much I can do until I can find a doctor overseas. I just hope that maybe a few tests can be run and the results can be sent to me whenever they are done. Other than that, I can only hope for the best.

Chilling with Friends

2016-05-10 12.23.45

Today I’m going to celebrate a birthday with a few friends. It’s going to be the last time I see some of them for a while, so I’m going to make sure to have fun.

Cherry Blossoms, by work

2016-03-31 18.37.01

The cherry blossom tree, near my job, has started to bud. When I saw it, it made me so happy.

This is how you know it’s really spring. Until I see these little buds, and watch the blossom, it’s not spring. Even if the calendar tries to tell me otherwise…

Expanding like Cabbage

2015-11-12 18.05.14

I decided to do something different tonight, instead of just heading home straight after work. I’ve been thinking a lot about why I’ve been feeling a little down lately, and I came to the conclusion that one of the reasons is that I don’t do much outside of work, go home, and do something minor onthe weekends. So, I’m taking a trip to White Plains.

I checked online during lunch for a bus that could take me from work to White Plains. I found two. So I am on said bus as I write this post.

Somebody got flowers delivered to them yesterday at the office. Not sure who these were for or who sent them (they were sitting on a table in the break room) but I’m happy for them. I wonder how these are taken care of and what they are called.

Little Spots of Color

Mom and I celebrated Labor Day by going out to eat yesterday. We had intended to have some sushi, but our usual spot was closed due to a lack of patrons. Instead we split some wings and salad at the nearby Whole Foods.

On the way back, we came across a lovely flower arrangement on an island between two busy streets. That got us to talking about the weather and the approach of autumn.

Labor day is considered to be “the last day of summer” here in the US. In the past, it indicated what clothes/shoes to wear, heralded the start of school, and was known as the weekend of sales of summer goods/clothing. It also signals the start of fall sports like Football.

For me it just means a day off from work. This is the first year in a long time that I’m not working retail, so it’s a nice change. It’s a little ironic that a day to celebrate laborers is usually spent by many working longer and harder hours.

Regardless, it was fun spending time with mom. I had a good labor day this year and that’s all I care about.

Also, if anyone knows what these little flowers are called, can you let me know?

I Forgot How Unfun this Is

So, the schools started up again today. While waiting for the bus, I realized just how damn unfun the morning commute is, when people are actually out and about. I had honestly forgotten.

My students are going to be in for a surprise when they realize that I won’t be coming back this year. I’ve managed to keep things hush hush until now (even after bumping into a few of the kids over break) but they’ll likely realized by the end of today. I’ll miss them but this current job is just too good to go back.

Fun to be Had

Today I’m going on a trip to the amusement park with my mom. I’ve been looking forward to this all week. She mentioned it a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been counting down the days since.
