Sunset over Gifu

I had an assignment in Gifu last week. The school is on the 8th floor and has a lot of windows. During my break, I was able to get a picture of the sunset.

Recently, the sunset has been getting earlier. Since moving here, I’ve been struggling to get used to early mornings and evenings. It’s been 3.5 years but I still am surprised.

Above

Started working at a new school at the start of August. The interesting point of this particular location is the view.

My favourite is the restaurant around the corner. It serves the best grilled mackerel.

Oh, and the overhead higway bridge that shakes the school from time to time.

Goodbye for now, Gifu.

Saturday will be last day working in Gifu. While I’ve no longer been working there five days a week, I was still doing Saturdays there. From July, I’ll be working a bit closer to home.

The View from atop Inuyama Castle

A few weekends ago, I went to a festival in Inuyama with some friends from work.

During that time, we also visited Inuyama’s famous castle.

The castle features a balcony at its top, from which you can enjoy an amazing view of the city below.

Nagoya Dusk

High above Nagoya Meieki, we look down and dream of warmer days. Winter is half over, but spring can’t come fast enough.

Tokyo Skytree

The first stop on our journey, after finding breakfast, was Asakusa station to see the Tokyo Skytree. We decided that because we had a lot of extra time, we would walk from the station.
Unfortunately we misjudged the distance by quite a lot.
Once we finally got there, there wasn’t much of a wait to buy tickets or ride the elevator up. We arrived a little but after 8:30, so it wasn’t too crowded.
We visited the 345th, 350th, 445th and 450th floors to take pictures.

There was a Marvel Avengers event going on, due to the newest movie, so the upper floors had superhero themed decorations, models, and merch.
We spent about an hour and a half there, investigating everything, and looking out the huge windows. Once we were done, we decided our next destination, then headed to the subway station.

The skies above

The view from above San Francisco during my visit earlier this month.

I didn’t get to explore very much, but what I saw from the plane was pretty cool. This was arriving from Japan. On the way back, I was sat in thr central row.

I would like to visit again in the future when I have more time and a later departure time.

The Night View from the Tempozan Ferris Wheel

After taking a ride on the Santa Maria cruise and cheking out the Kaiyakan/Aquarium, I tries the Tempozan Ferris Wheel.

It’s heralded as the biggest wheel im the world, at 150 meters (their words) and the ride is part tour, part Osaka marketing. Surprisingly, the ticket was only ¥800.
I wanted the best pictures possible, although you’re not technically supposed to take them, so I waited on line for maybe fourty minutes so I could get a transparent car.
Once onboard, I was mesmerized by the view, dispite my mild dislike of heights. I could see Universal Studios Japan, the aquarium, a famous red bridge, and a good portion of the city. The ride lasted fifteen minutes.
If you have a chance to try it, it’s worth doing. It’s really not expensive and each car can fit up to five people.
