Far Off City at Night

At night you can just see the tallest of buildings from downtown Nagoya from my neighborhood.

Goodbye for now, Gifu.

Saturday will be last day working in Gifu. While I’ve no longer been working there five days a week, I was still doing Saturdays there. From July, I’ll be working a bit closer to home.

Down the Road, in the Rain

Jay, a coworker, suggested I go for a walk since we got out of work at a reasonable time for a change. He gave me directions for a shrine he thought interesting, but me being me got all turned around. Eventally, I found this.

At Night

Near my current assignment, there’s a small park that I like to visit on my way home from work. It’s very peaceful, and since Gifu is closer to home than Toyohashi was, I’m not worried about getting home super late.

Yokohama Landmark Tower Plaza

The child in me loved this.

Since I had a little time before my bus, I stopped by downtown Yokohama.

It was terribly rainy and windy, but metal looks amazing in these conditions.

It was totally worth it!

More Kamata

After work I decided to do a bit more exploring. During work, I can only see a bit from the window in the staff room, or experience a tiny fraction of it when I go out for lunch.

At night, everything is lit up beautifully. I found that this extends about three blocks from the station and is only on the west side.

Most businesses are restaurants, pubs, or pachinko places. Here you can find just about any sort of food you could want.

Some of the buildings tower, but the most interesting places are found in side alleys, under huge aunings.

A few student tell me that this city is called the dirtiest city, but I don’t really think so. What do you think?

Akihabara at Night

I decided to explore a bit of Akihabara last night, for a lack of anything else to do.

I popped into a few archades, walked through the streets, and looked though a couple of stores.

It was really crowded and there were a ton of people trying to drum up business for various cafes and clubs.

I didn’t stay long before getting back on the train home.

Late night Nagoya

It’s been too hot to do much during the day so I went out for a little bit last night.

Not many people were our and most places were closed.

Still, it was nice to get out of the house for a bit.

Nagoya Rain

Its been pouring all day today. After work, I needed to stop at the supermarket for dinner, so I went through the side streets to save some time. The rain made the city lights look especially pretty.
