Saw this little guy chillin’ on a fence outside my apartment building a few nights ago.
Met this cutie at the zoo.
This is our neighborhood cat. I have no idea what his name is but I have taken to calling him George. He sometimes likes to chill in front of my apartment building. He’s a bit shy.
This is Sari and he loves treats. A lot.
So, I woke up early to visit a hedgehog cafe. Being golden week, many places have lines down the block even before opening time. In response to this, I made an online reservation the day before.
When I got there, as expected, there was a major line. Thankfully, a staff member was checking for reservations, so all I had to do was show my confirmation email and I was let in.
I reserved an hour, which included a free drink and a jar of meal worms to feed my new friend. I got a hedgehog, named Zack, all to myself. He was super skitish (except when it came to food— he tried to pull the worm and tweezers used to hold it out of my hand).
For the most part, he stayed in the box on my lap, though he seemed mildly interested in my t-shirt at times. When I did pick him up, he’d roll aound in my hands and try to escape up my arms.
Eventually it was time to go, so back into his enclosure he went. Afterwards, it was time for some shopping.
While out with my friend V, afyer work, I had to use the facilites at a local park. This place was a bit country, so there was no end to the lovely creepy crawlies taking up residence there. One such citizen was Lou, who was chilling opposite the Japanese style squat toilet. Lou kept guard while I did my business, and later hopped further up the wall, when I came closer to give my thanks.
When I went to the zoo this weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting this cool guy in the Big Cats enclosure. He or she was about as big as a large golden retriever and just as friendly. He walked back and forth between viewing stations, looking at and posing for visitors. He or she seemed to especially like those with cameras. For those kneeling or kids in strollers, he or she would come to the glass and sit down, making eye contact with the visitor, and sometimes tilting its head.
They slept peacefully next to each other for almost an hour.
This sweetheart allowed me to carry her about for at least 20 minutes. I miss the feeling of holding a kitty cat.
It’s my first day back at work after a long holiday. Today, I’ll be returning to a school I haven’t taught at for months. Before, I only worked there on weekends, but now I’ll be there three days a week. I’ll also be in the office one day a week and will continue in Anjo on Saturdays. It looks like I’ll be running about for the rest of January, at least.
