JR Towers, Nagoya, Japan
It’s hard to believe how nice the weather has been recently. While it’s not exactly warm in the traditional sense, it is a lot warmer than New York is this time of year. It’s warm enough to wear my leather jacket out and about, instead of my coat. I was even able to eat outside the other day. I hope it continues.
Throughout November and half of December, I spent a lot of time warming my desk in the regional office. Since I’m and Emergency Teacher, I am actually considered an employee of the Education department of my company.
Since the new year, I’ve been out in the field much more. However I do still work in the office three or four times a month. Because of that, I wad able to see the new flower arrangements scattered throughout the building.
I always say hi to this little guy on my way to work. I really wish I could have a pet, but I understand why we aren’t allowed to.
February has always been one of my least favorite months. Being in Japan has done little to change that.
However, the weather hasn’t been too bad, so I have been able to combat the winter blues by going out of my apartment. Work has been good and I’ve been throwing myself into my lessons. I’ve recently been teaching a lot of lower level students, so that’s a bit of a time sink. It’s served as a good reminder of my roots as a language learner.
I am going to sleep all weekend.
I had a guest over for dinner and video games this weekend. We made some vegetable and chicken meatball hotpot, laughing while we attempted to maneuver around my tiny kitchen. The broth, and the meatballs in particular, came out really good. For dessert, we had green tea cake, served with red beans and tea.
