Since I was little, my mom’s been trying to keep me from going places where I don’t belong. This isn’t one of them.
It’s actually the buffer between the residential area of Nerperhan Ave and the Saw Mill River Parkway. To me, it’s another place to explore.
Yonkers once was almost all rivers, until the people living here filled them in and built on top of them. Our major rivers (sans the Hudson– though that too is probably smaller than it once was, back in the day) are little more than shallow creeks at this point. To me, though, they are still wondrous places worthy of inspection.
